Jason Day ad campaign
“Drive Fleet Safety”
Problem: Motive sponsors 13x PGA Tour winner Jason Day. (Check out his hat in the videos below.) With only two weeks notice, Motive’s creative director told me we’d have about two hours to shoot video of Jason in Florida. Motive’s CMO wanted a video ad campaign. So not only did we need to find an production agency, but we also had to come up with a campaign idea that could be shot in a couple of hours and get it approved by Motive’s executive team.
Solution: During a late night brainstorming session, I noticed a simple connection: Motive customers drive fleet vehicles. Jason Day drives golf balls. I wrote four scripts focused on our customers’ most common unsafe driving behaviors, but instead of showing dash cam footage, we had Jason Day and his caddie deal with the same things at the tee box. And since we only had two hours to shoot, I structured the scripts so footage could be reused across each video. The creative director and I also vetted three video production agencies in two days.
Result: The shoot went so smoothly that Jason volunteered to stay an extra 45 minutes to let us capture b-roll footage of him golfing. (He’s a class act, for the record.) As of 2026, this campaign has been viewed more than a million times across all channels, and they’re the best-performing videos on Motive’s YouTube channel.
